ROAD DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS


GCDA has developed many key corridors with ROB s and Bridges in the city which are the development spine of the city. Innovative planning tools have been used for procuring land for implementing these road projects. Land were taken in possession free from the land owners in many projects by giving relaxation in development regulations or compensating by other methods. The arterial roads and neighbourhood roads that are developed by the Authority have now been the important feeder corridors in the city.

The Authority also has built the first bridge under BOT scheme (The new Mattancherry Bridge) in the state to link W. Island to Thoppumpady.

Important roads such as 36 m wide Panampilly Avenue and its extension , Gandhi Nagar road, Jubilee Road, Judges’ Avenue, Kaloor Kadavanthra Road, and Subash Chandra Bose Road , SA road  Rajaji Road , Chilavannoor Bund Road, Stadium link Road etc. were formed by this Authority, in addition to the residential level smaller roads.

The Details of Road & Bridges projects are as follows:-
 

Kaloor-Kadavanthra Road and Kathrikkadavu ROB:-
 

A 22 M wide road having a length of about 3.25 kms in the North South direction parallel to MG road.

Sahodaran Ayyappan Road:-
 

A 22m wide road major feeder road in the east west direction having a length of 3.5 km a joint venture with Cochin Corporation.

Extension of Panampilly Nagar Road and bridge across Thevara-Perandoor Canal:-


To link the Panampilly nagar to MG road.          

Formation of Bund Road and Chilavannoor Bridge:-

A feeder road in the east west direction parallel to Sahodaran Ayyappan road.
 

Rajaji Road:-

A major CBD road of 20 m wide.

6.       New Mattancherry Bridge:- (on BOT basis) having a length of 500 M.                                                                                                                           

          Pandarachira Bridge (Rameswaram Scheme area):-
 

To link Palluruthy to Chellanam Mundamvely area.
